Embracing the Struggle Creates Everlasting Strength | RJ Messenger | TEDxErie

RJ Messenger is a 29 year old Erie Pa. native and the co-owner of Iron Empire Clothing. In just three years he has made quite the name for himself as well as his business, in Erie and nationwide. Prior to 2015, when his business was founded, he worked full time for the City of Erie Public Works Department for six plus years until he realized that he was ready to make a change not only in his own life, but in the lives of others. Over the last three years he has spoken on multiple occasions on both business and personal subjects. Iron Empire Clothing has donated thousands of dollars in monetary and item donations to various local non profits, charities, and organizations around the city of Erie. He lives by the saying, "I'm not in the business of making money, I'm in the business of changing lives." RJ Messenger is a 29 year old Erie Pa. native and the co-owner of Iron Empire Clothing. "I want to make Erie a better place by proving to people that you can come from any background and lifestyle, and no matter your age, race, sex, or your past, that you can be as successful as you want to be as long as you work your ass off towards it, every single day, and not let the opinions and views of others get in your way."

“I am going to be honest,” he said. “It’s extremely stressful. There are times when the bills will be put off for a month here or there. Our business is hit or miss. We might make $5,000 one week or we might go a week and make $500. It’s hard to balance.”
